Rydal Penrhos hockey side crowned North Wales U18 Champions

A senior boys’ hockey side at Rydal Penrhos have become the North Wales champions for their age group.

The U18 squad hosted the North Wales Schools’ Championships last week and won their opening game against Ysgol Friars 4-2, coming back from 2-1 down at half time.

Sam Khorram-Sefat led the way with two goals, with Welsh youth international Jacob Heaton-Rue and Finlay Hare also hitting the target

This was followed by a 3-0 victory against Eirias High School to secure the title, with the aforementioned Hare assisting twice and Zac Blomeley scoring a brace.

Allen Boyd, director of sport, said: “This was another outstanding effort from our senior hockey side, and congratulations to go them for sealing the North Wales Championship once again.

“Hopefully this will spur them on in the coming weeks and continue the rich tradition of national hockey success we have accumulated in recent years here at Rydal Penrhos.”

The squad will now prepare with the coaching team for the Welsh Schools’ Championships next month.
