Bromsgrove Preparatory School’s young rugby stars had an action-packed weekend in Cardiff for their three Broomsgrove School Rugby day tour, concluded by an impressive victory against a local Welsh team.

On Friday 12th October, thirty-seven boys from the U13A ,B and C rugby squads kicked off the tour by visiting the Liberty Stadium Swansea to watch The Ospreys play Italian team Benetton Treviso in a Heineken Cup match. Saturday saw them play a morning of matches against teams from Cowbridge Rugby Club, topped off by an afternoon at the magnificent Millennium Stadium, home to Welsh rugby and one of the iconic rugby stadiums anywhere in the world.

It was Sunday, however, that proved the most rewarding, when the teams played Dinas Powys Rugby Club. The B/C team, despite going 0-10 behind early on, re-grouped and ran out 36-20 winners in the end with Dominic Gardner (aged 12) scoring a hat trick of tries. The A team followed and, cheered on by their team mates and a large group of parents, won an impressive 62-0.

Coach and tour leader Gareth Jones said: “The boys were great ambassadors for the school in many ways and a great time was had by all.”
