Oakham IB five AsOakham is celebrating another great set of IB results, with a 100% pass rate for all of our students.

For the third year running, Oakham’s IB students have achieved an average of 36 points or above. This is the equivalent of three A’s at A Level and is considerably higher then the worldwide average of 29 points.

“The results are yet again a testimony to the hard work of this years 7th Formers and their teachers,” says Headmaster Nigel Lashbrook. “To consistently achieve an average score that is the equivalent of 3 A’s at A Level, in an exam system where there is no grade inflation, is highly creditable.”

Of our 36 students who sat the IB exam in May:
– 72% gained 34 or more points (equivalent to A,B,B at A Level)
– 56% gained 36 or more points (equivalent to A,A,A at A Level)
– Over a third gained 38 or more points (equivalent to 5 A’s at A level)
– Six students gained 40 or more points. Nikolaus Dehm achieved 44 points, whilst both Sarah Kent and Antonia Kellerwessel gained 43 points. As 45 points is the maximum IB score, these are excellent results.

Simone Lorenz-Weir, Oakham’s Director of IB said: “I am delighted that our students made the most of the experience that the Diploma offers them and managed to achieve such great results while still being busy in all aspects of school life. Our experience shows that they will go into their first year at university not only feeling ahead of the game in terms of subject knowledge, but also they will be able to confidently meet any challenges they may encounter. All our students know how to manage deadlines, are able presenters and communicators and, most importantly, have advanced critical thinking skills.”
