24 pupils from Leighton Park School get poetry published

Leighton Park Students get publishedDuring the Autumn term pupils from Years 7-9 from Leighton Park School entered the Young Writers competition in order to gain a place in the publication "Poetry Matters – Poems from the South". Twenty Four of the poems entered by Leighton Park pupils have been selected from the nationwide entries to be published in the book of poetry this year. Young Writers are an organisation that have been running these competitions for the past 20 years.

Alex McGrath, Head, said ‘It is a tremendous achievement from our young writers. The success in this nationwide competition is just another example of how our pupils apply themselves to all their work at Leighton Park, be it part of the curriculum or an after school activity.’

Jonathan Porter-Hughes, English teacher, added ‘I am absolutely delighted that so many of our pupils have been selected to have their work published. It is a fantastic achievement and the pupils should be very proud of themselves’.
