Oundle pupils on Spanish Immersion tripA group of twenty-two Fourth Form (Year 10) pupils from Oundle School recently embarked on an eight day immersion trip to Spain. Their objective was to improve their speaking skills and acquire a greater knowledge and appreciation for Spanish culture.

During the five mornings, pupils enjoyed Spanish lessons at their villa which focussed on conversation and were provided by La Janda Institute. In the afternoons, monitors organised half day activities such as surfing at El Palmar beach, walking to Bolonia beach and a beach Olympiad. Each day they were treated to different homemade, organic Spanish meals by their excellent cook Tara. Pupils were also given time to enjoy the spectacular villa, the infinity pool and the stunning beach below the villa.

Two days were spent on excursions to Sevilla visiting some of the more important monuments and the water park where the temperature reached 38 degrees!

Freya Wilson (14) commented, “The Spanish teachers were amazing and we all learnt lots about Spain during the lessons, including how to cook some delicious Spanish food making the experience a lot of fun. Spending the afternoon in an amazing Spanish city and seeing the most beautiful Spanish village was really enjoyable too.”

Mia Derrick (15) commented, “It was so sunny for the whole week which allowed us to have our Spanish lessons outside. We played games and the trips to the beach, to Seville and to the water park were such a nice time to relax and enjoy being on holiday.”
