I am delighted to let you know that Upper Sixth Leavers from Caterham School have achieved the best ever exam results the school has recorded and confirms our position as one the leading co-educational boarding and day schools in the UK.
Over 70% of the grades awarded were at A*-A, with 40% of the grades awarded at A*. The average grade profile was once again A*, A, A enabling 85% of our pupils to attain their first-choice destinations at world leading universities and super competitive courses here in the UK and overseas.
These numbers include a total of 8 medics, along with lawyers, engineers, architects and economists who will be studying at Russell Group universities, Oxford and Cambridge and leading universities in the United States, Canada and Hong Kong. Every single pupil in the year group was able to access a destination of their choice as a result of these outstanding exam results.
In addition, four pupils were able to win places at prestigious and highly sought-after Conservatoires to study music and drama, reflecting the breadth of talent at our school.
These results reflect the ability and breadth of interest of our very talented pupils, along with the expertise of highly experienced and dedicated teachers. It also reflects the expertise Caterham School has in preparing pupils to successfully apply for the most competitive courses in a school culture which is ambitious and inspiring but which is also deeply caring and supportive.
We know that the future success of these pupils will not be defined solely by the grades they were awarded yesterday, but equally by their personality and character, their communication skills and their ability to innovate, their values and ability to respond positively to change. Caterham School ensures that these things are also the focus of our school experience with a broad co-curricular offering, a wellbeing curriculum that addresses these issues and our own bespoke EDGE curriculum that teaches our pupils to be successful innovators and problem solvers.
I am very proud indeed of all our Leavers – they have worked hard throughout a period of great uncertainty. Our Boarders have demonstrated particular resilience and I am thrilled that yesterday was such a positive experience for all of them.
