Pupils from Year 10 at Bromsgrove School enjoyed a historical treat last Wednesday with a trip to study two sites of Bromsgrove School Bath Tripclassical interest.

The morning was spent at the Corinium Museum in Cirencester, a museum charting the history of the settlement from its Iron Age roots through its Roman phase as Corinium Dubunnorum. #

Pupils were able to view Romano-British artefacts, reconstructions of Roman home life including a garden, and some of the finest mosaics found in Britain.

In the afternoon, there was a visit to the Roman Baths at Bath, one of Britain’s best known Roman sites, where the excellent audio-guide handsets provided a detailed tour of this superb ancient complex.

Latinists were able to experience the site and objects which formed the background to one of their textbooks, while Classical Civilisation students could gain valuable knowledge for aspects of the city life and community topics they will be covering from September.

Head of Classics Mr McClure said: “Behaviour was impeccable and spirits were high as the sun provided one of the hottest days of the year so far!”
