Bournemouth Collegiate School pupil Tomas Seville, also known as Sevi after his golfing hero Seve Ballesteros, won Bournemouth Collegiate the Annual Bournemouth Junior Golf Open on Friday 12th April at Queens Park Golf Club. His victory came 37 years after his own father, Graham Seville won the same event.

Despite being up against players much older than him in the Junior age category the talented 12 year old show grit and determination to win the Handicap Division of the Tournament by scoring a gross 78-7 over par. Even the intermittent rain did not deter Tom who said, “I am incredibly proud of my win.

I was very determined to win, particularly as my Dad won this event at the age of 15 in 1974 and I wanted to make him proud.”

Tom’s father, Graham Seville, was invited to present the trophy to Tom and said, “I am extremely proud of the hard work that Tom has put in over the winter months and everything is starting to come good for him this season.

It was quite an emotional moment presenting the trophy that I hadn’t seen for 37 years to my own son.”

The Bournemouth Collegiate School pupil who has been playing golf since the age of 7 enjoys a flexible learning curriculum at School which allows him to pursue his golfing career added, “I am looking forward to many other challenges in the golfing season ahead.”
