Bromsgrove School has had an exciting array of activities and events as part of the annual World Book Day 
celebrations.
Pupils from the Pre-Preparatory School and Nursery dressed up as their favourite characters from stories and nursery rhymes and a whole school assembly was held with a Grand Parade, while Year 1 combined World Book Day with the marvellous middle to their Creative Curriculum topic, ‘Pirates.’
The School grounds echoed with the blood- curdling cries of pirates on a treasure hunt and Captain Cattell and her crew looked a fearsome bunch of villains as they emerged from Forest School searching for clues.
The children also took part in activities including designing a pirate ship, programming a toy robot to move to given coordinates on a map and playing a toasting game with spicy drinks.
At the Preparatory School, pupils also dressed up on World Book Day and the junior pupils enjoyed a book swap-a-thon where over 500 books were exchanged – with enough left over to be sent up to the Pre-Preparatory School.
Their celebrations continue into this week, with a Book Fair and an exciting visit from a bestselling author. 
Children’s author Cathy Cassidy visited Bromsgrove Preparatory School on Monday to give a talk about her Chocolate Box Girls series of novels for young girls. Cathy’s special edition book Bittersweet is one of eight books selected to be a £1 book as part of World Book Day.
Bromsgrove School was pleased to welcome pupils from Hagley Primary School, Finstall, Lickey End, Beoley, Meadows, St. Peter’s RC, Stoke Prior, Fairfield and St Andrew’s CE First Schools to share Cathy’s visit.
Cathy spoke to the girls about her writing career and offered advice about reading and writing their own stories, as well as announcing an opportunity in which the girls could enter a competition to play Coco, one of Cathy’s characters from the series, in a live action video for Cathy Cassidy TV. After the talk, the pupils were given the opportunity to buy a copy of one of Cathy’s books and have it signed.
