Abbots Bromley New Executive Head at Abbots Bromley School

Abbots Bromley School is delighted to announce the appointment of their new Executive Head, Mrs Victoria Musgrave Abbots BromleyBA M Ed FRSA.

Mrs Musgrave joins Abbots Bromley School, which was the very first Woodard School for girls, from her role as Senior Professional Fellow in Educational Leadership at Liverpool Hope University, a consultant trainer for the Association of School and College Leaders and Visiting Lecturer at the University of East Anglia and University of Manchester.

Over the last twenty years, Mrs Musgrave has been Principal of four maintained 11-18 Schools, in her career in London, Manchester and the East of England, including Britain’s largest maintained boarding school. In 2006, she gained the title ‘Super Head’ resulting in visits to 10 Downing Street.

The Education Secretary at the time Hon Charles Clarke praised her achievements nationally.

With four adult children and three grandchildren, her main interests are the Arts. She has worked in schools in the United States & China; visiting both Shanghai & Hong Kong earlier this year as part of a British Council group.

She regular speaks at conferences throughout the UK (including the most recent Secondary Head’s Conference run by ASCL in London where both Michael Gove and Michael Wilshaw were key note speakers.

She has worked in Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man, various European countries including Scandinavia and her area of educational interest centres mainly on successful, emotionally intelligent school leadership and the characteristics that make effective school leaders.

“I am delighted to join Abbots Bromley School at such an exciting time in the School’s history” says Mrs Musgrave.

“With its wonderful facilities, family atmosphere and exciting plans in place to celebrate its 140th year in 2014, I am looking forward to working with the pupils, the staff and the AB community.

I am particularly pleased to be returning to a smaller Christian boarding environment where I will be given the opportunity to really get to know students, their parents, the wonderful staff of the school and the community of Abbots Bromley and the surrounding area. This is a unique opportunity”.
