Abbots Bromley School offered a very warm Bienvenidos (welcome) to six Spanish students and their teacher from Colegio Santa Ana Y San Rafael in Madrid who have spent the last week here as part of a Spanish exchange trip the school has taken part in.

Today the students donned red noses for Comic Relief and joined in the fun to raise money for ‘Dia de la nariz roja’ which translates from Spanish as ‘The Day of the Red Nose’.

All students and staff were encouraged to wear red and sport their red noses for a small donation to the charity.

Whilst here the students, Carlos, Ruben, Silvia, Oscar, Daniel, Sofia and their teacher Senor Fresneda have experienced life at school and at their partners’ homes and have taken part in several trips including Cadbury World, Speedwell Caverns and Lichfield.

On Saturday they will get a taste Premiership football for the first time with a visit to the Britannia Stadium to see Stoke City take on West Brom.

Spanish teacher Mrs Beverley Coulthard commented: “it has been a real pleasure to welcome the students and Senor Fresneda to the school and the exchange has been a great success in introducing the students to a different culture and improving their language skills.

This is the first time we have had a Spanish exchange programme for a number of years at Abbots Bromley and I am confident that it will continue and will grow in the future.”
