Over 200 children and adults from All Hallows donned their trainers and running gear to run a mile for local charity WHY – We Hear You.

The children were accompanying Rachel Clark who is running a mile a day every single day of the year to raise money and awareness for the charity WHY.

WHY works across Bath and North East Somerset, Somerset and Wiltshire, providing emotional support to anyone who has been touched by cancer or any other life threatening condition in a variety of locations. When a diagnosis or bereavement of someone close to us occurs, children and young people can feel confused and angry or frightened, as they often find it difficult to express how they feel. This can have dramatic and long term effects on behaviour at home and at school. Through WHY, young people of all ages can benefit from having a safe, supportive environment in which they can explore and express their feelings. Therapists work with children and young people to help them way to find ways of moving forward. WHY also offer support and advice to parents and carers.

After the race, Rachel wrote: “Mile 70/365. If there ever was such a thing as ‘running a perfect mile’ it was today. An entire school effort, thank you All Hallows for being the first school to support my vision and cause, your wonderful pupils are an absolute credit to you. I am truly grateful and deeply, deeply humbled.”
