sport olympicsRydal Penrhos pupil Anna Richardson has recently been accepted on to the Developing Winners scheme, launched by Conwy County as part of its Olympic legacy programme. The scheme is designed to support young, talented sportsmen and women in the county, making use of the skills available at the RGC Academy, which is based in Colwyn Bay.

Anna was one of the 70 hopeful pupils from schools all over the county who attended a selection process earlier in the year, where applicants were put through their paces with sprinting, strength and flexibility, and fitness tests. Just fifteen of those applicants were selected for the programme.

Anna’s main interests are hockey and netball, although she is also an accomplished swimmer. As part of the Developing Winners scheme she will attend strength and conditioning sessions, as well as receiving advice about health and nutrition, and psychological support to realise her dreams and ambitions for the future.
