CLASS of 2000 leaver, Tara Button, is flying the flag for Mayfield girls across the globe with her

“BuyMeOnce” concept – a new website which celebrates things that are built to last and challenges our ‘throwaway’ society!

The thinking behind Tara’s ingenious idea was if we only had to buy things once we could reduce all the hideous waste in landfills and save ourselves some cash in the long run!

Tara is proof that Mayfield girls leave School well-informed individuals, young women of faith and reason and ready to make their mark on the world, something which Tara certainly is doing!

The site launched last month and has already had several million hits. Tara and her ideas have been covered in the Telegraph, the Guardian and the Mail Online. Radio 4 have asked Tara to appear on You and Yours and there is more press to come from Forbes, Reuters and CNBC.

Tara,CEO, has now left her stable job to pursue her passion and hopes to promote real change in the way we shop.

She adds: “I believe that buying things that are built to last means saving our environment and our money in the long run. We used to expect our products to last us for decades but gradually their lifespan has reduced until we find it normal to throw away a kettle every couple of years. It’s completely unsustainable and it has to be challenged.”
