Ashby School gets a visit from an Olympic Basketball Star

Great Britain basketball captain Drew Sullivan visited Ashby School to run a masterclass for PE students and Ashby School visit from basketball startalk to them about his Olympic experience.

About 200 students from Years 11, 12 and 13 got the chance to listen to Drew’s account of his sporting career and his time at the Olympics.

This was followed by an after school masterclass for 30 students with a passion for basketball.

The visit was organised by Leicester-Shire and Rutland Sport as part of its Olympic and Paralympic Roadshow. Olympic and Paralympic athletes are visiting schools and other venues across the two counties to encourage more young people to take up the Olympic sporting legacy.

Head of PE Vikki Rundle-Brown said: “When we were offered the opportunity to meet Drew, we eagerly accepted the offer. The students really enjoyed listening to Drew’s personal account and had a great time doing skills practices and playing small games.”
