Over the past year, pupils and staff at Kingswood have generously donated more than 500kg of food to Bath Foodbank. This is excluding the 193 advent calendars that the school has recently donated after a campaign led by Head of Drama and Theatre, Catherine Nash.

Tim Harris from Bath Foodbank Management Committee said: “The Bath Foodbank is very grateful for the ongoing support of Kingswood School. The engagement of pupils, parents and staff is a testimony to the caring ethos of the school community, and this generosity contributes to our ability to help local individuals and families in crisis.”  The Bath foodbank, located on Manvers Street, is very busy and are reporting a 38% increase on demand from last year with as many 15 clients using it every day.

As well as food, Kingswood’s Art Department have also donated packets of pencils which will be distributed among the children that attend the foodbank.  The Bath foodbank is supported by The Trussell Trust who have a network of 428 foodbanks across the country. They provided more than 1.1 million three-day emergency food supplies and support to people in the UK last year with 430,000 of those going to children.
