After finding out about lots of the weapons used, which included the longbow, crossbow and swords, the girls found out that it is illegal to hold a crossbow when under 18.

The visitors, Mr Garman and his assistant, also showed the girls the different arrows fired from a crossbow and a longbow. They were then introduced to a medieval game where they were split into teams and tried to knock the opponent’s men over.

While the game was going on some girls examined the weapons more closely and found out that the armour some people call chainmail is correctly called ringmail or ring armour.

The visitors then got fully equipped in the armour and performed a reproduction of a battle while the girls watched eagerly from a distance.

Mr Garman explained that when wearing a suit of armour you must drink lots of water because it is very hot inside it. Afterwards, the girls were able to ask some questions and find out more about medieval England.

The girls really enjoyed themselves and thanked the gentlemen for taking the time to come and see them.
