Bearwood College classic car showThe Car & Bike Show at Bearwood College is back! The 2nd annual exhibition of classic, unusual and interesting vehicles in the magnificent grounds of Bearwood’s 250-acre estate is being held on Saturday 11th June from 12.30-4pm. Entry is free although visitor are welcome to donate contributions and buy raffle tickets. Profits raised will be divided equally between Help for Heroes, the College’s Chapel Organ Restoration Appeal (CORA) and Bearwood Parents’ Association (BPA).

Come and wonder at the Lotus 21, a classic Formula One racing car, once driven by Stirling Moss and Jim Clark, which will be raced at Monza in the FIA Historic Formula One Championship just days before the Bearwood show.

Barkham and District Classic Car Club (BADCCC) will be anchoring the event alongside 18 other specialist car clubs. Enthusiasts bringing vehicles from Capris and GT40s to SteamCars and Porsches will travel from Hampshire, Berkshire, North Hants, the Thames Valley and the Cotswolds to join the exhibition.

Vehicles from Corvettes to Minis will be displayed with the event featuring over 150 cars, two 1940s Bedford coaches, a monster truck and a selection of rare motorbikes. A 1954 Fiat 500 will share the show with the very latest Audi A8 performance car; there is something for everyone’s taste. Come and choose your favourite! Official prizes will be awarded to the Best in Show, Headmaster’s Choice, Scholar’s Choice and by the BADCCC to one of their members.

This intriguing collection of vehicles is set against the splendid backdrop of the Bearwood College Mansion House. The beautiful Victorian home, now a through-school for pupils aged 0-18, was designed and built by former owner of The Times newspaper, John Walter and provides the perfect setting for such a fascinating event.

Sponsored by Thames Valley Cars, the exhibition is expected to attract over 1,000 visitors. Owner of Winnersh-based Thames Valley Cars, Kevin Westlake, said “I’m really looking forward to it. I’m obviously an avid supporter of motor vehicles, I’m part of the local community and my son goes to Bearwood so I really wanted to support this great event. Last year was the first chance I’d had to really get close to character vans and I was so inspired that I went out and bought a 20-year old VW after the show!”. Mr Westlake will be exhibiting his ‘new’ camper van, together with a couple of his slightly speedier Ferraris.

In addition to the array of cars and bikes outside, visitors can race Scalextric cars on an indoor track, buy crafts and enjoy refreshments in the marquee. Raffle prizes include the weekend loan of a Morgan from Richard Thorne Classic Cars and a £100 voucher from Greenoaks Mercedes Benz.
