The Car & Motorcycle Show at Bearwood College is back! The 4th annual exhibition of classic, unusual and interesting vehicles in the magnificent grounds of Bearwood’s 125-acre estate is being held on Saturday 18th May from 12.30-4.00pm.

Entry is free, although there will be plenty of Air Ambulance buckets that will happily swallow up any loose change and raffle tickets will be available to buy with a host of wonderful prizes including a Morgan car for the weekend, a flight in a Piper Cub light aircraft, a £100 restaurant voucher for the Walter Arms and many more!

Money raised from the raffle will be shared between the Air Ambulance, the College’s Chapel Organ Restoration Appeal (CORA) and Bearwood Parents’ Association (BPA).

Further prizes on offer through the Silent Auction include the extremely desirable offer of two seats at the prestigious Aston Martin Driver’s Day in September, a fascinating tour of the Morgan factory and thanks to Claremont Executive Services, a chauffeur-driven trip to London with two theatre tickets to the show of the lucky winner’s choice.

Barkham and District Classic Car Club (BADCCC) will be anchoring the event alongside almost 20 other specialist car and motorcycle clubs including the TVR Club, the Austin Healey Club, and Triumph and BSA motorcycles from the 1920s to the present.

Enthusiasts bringing vehicles from Capris and GT40s to Porsches will travel from Hampshire, Berkshire, North Hants, the Thames Valley and the Cotswolds to join the exhibition.

Over 300 vehicles from Corvettes to Minis will be displayed accompanied by their knowledgeable and enthusiastic owners.

The show will feature an American Oldsmobile, a three-wheeled 1930s MesserSchmitt, as well as a wide selection of cool and curious motorcycles.

2013 is the 100th anniversary of Aston Martin, who will proudly displaying their Centenary Car, as well as the 50th anniversary of the Porsche 911.

For the very first time the show will feature brand new cars including two new Maseratis, and the new Bentley GTC convertible, direct from the dealership, together with the new enhanced specification Mulsanne.

Come and choose your favourite! Official prizes will be awarded to the Best Car in Show and Best Motorcycle in Show.

This intriguing collection of vehicles is set against the splendid backdrop of the Bearwood College Mansion House. The beautiful Victorian home, now a co-educational independent through-school for pupils aged 0-18, was designed and built by former owner of The Times newspaper, John Walter III and provides the perfect setting for such a fascinating event.

Sponsored by local automotive firms Coupes & Convertibles and Trimmania, the exhibition is expected to attract over 2,000 visitors.

Stuart Walker, Managing Director of Trimmania, specialist automotive upholsterers for classic, concept and American cars for over 25 years, commented “We came in 2012 and there was such a lot of interest and positive feedback that we decided to that we wanted to give something back to the community and support the event through sponsorship”.

Trimmania who are planning to bring along a sofa constructed from the front half an original mini, a Caterham 7 built from a kit, and a day camper van with fabulous blue trim, are also hoping to showcase a motorcycle with leather panels on all the parts of the bike that are usually painted.

“We’ll undertake any project that the customer wants,” said Walker, “The more unusual, the more interesting it is for us, but we do all sorts of mainstream vehicles too.”

Julian Jeffrey, Proprietor of Coupes and Convertibles, specialises in reselling Audis and BMWs that are guaranteed to promote an emotion.

Their vehicles offer the fulfilment of an ambition; for the people who buy them their coupes and convertibles are not just cars, they are the realisation of a dream. 2013 is the second year the company has supported the Car & Motorcycle Show at Bearwood College.

“We wanted to be involved again as last year’s event was so successful” says Julian, “The car show has rapidly become an established event for local enthusiasts and we want to support our local community.”

Coupes and Convertibles will once again be handing out their popular helium balloons and displaying a selection high-performance Audis, convertible 3-series BMWs and an M6.

For those who don’t know your engines from your alloys, there is an opportunity to shop in the craft market, enjoy the cappuccino carts, eat ice cream or homemade cake, listen to the Rock Choir, partake of Pimms on the lawn or simply enjoy a picnic.

Also new this year, the family-friendly event has organised a range of children’s activities on the Headmaster’s Lawn including a bouncy castle, mini-golf, archery, Sumo wrestling, craft and giant Jenga.

We look forward to welcoming you on Saturday 18th May 2013 from 12.30-4.00pm.
