This term has seen many sporting successes for students at Bedales and Bedales Prep, Dunhurst. The Bedales 
U14A boys’ football team clocked up impressive victories against Lancing A 3-0 and Charterhouse B 3-0.
In hockey, the U14 girls’ team finished in the lead at the County Hockey Trophy Tournament without losing a match all day.
At Dunhurst, over 100 matches were played throughout the term with highlights including: winning the U13 Highfield girls’ netball tournament; quarter finalists in the IAPS regional series for U13 girls’ hockey; and in boys’ football, winning the U9 Meoncross tournament, winning the U11 Ditcham Park tournament and winning the U13 league for the second year running.
The term’s results have been helped by the schools’ gifted and talented programme across the sports curriculum which is developing team play and individual skills. The most recent event in the programme was a visit for students to the University of Chichester, which included a workshop on the importance of hydration during exercise.
The students took part in the ‘Cooper 12 minute test’ used to work out an athlete’s VO2 max, weighing themselves before and after the test to establish how much fluid had been lost during a period of intense exercise.
Earlier in the term Bedales and Dunhurst welcomed hockey Team GB bronze medal winner Alex Danson to the schools. In addition to spending a day working with students, Alex spent time with the student players in the gifted and talented programme to develop their skills. 
A sports leadership programme has been introduced for Block 2 students (Year 8) at Dunhurst. Bedales level two sports leader groups in Block 4 (Year 10) are putting their leadership skills into practice by running sports lessons for Year 3 Bedales Pre-prep pupils as part of its programme to encourage healthy lifestyle.
Commenting on the schools’ gifted and talented programme, Headmaster of Bedales Schools, Keith Budge said, “We believe in presenting as many opportunities as possible for students to learn from professionals. The sporting element of the programme has been busy this term and we are already seeing the positive effect this is having in matches. We are looking forward to welcoming two more Olympic athletes to Bedales next term in diver Pete Waterfield and gold medal winning hockey player Sean Kerly.”
