Bedales School studentsDuring the Summer term, Bedales welcomed pupils and teachers from Chuansha High School, Shanghai as part of an exchange partnership between the two schools. The Chinese visitors were entertained by Bedales students with a BBQ and a walk to the Poet’s Stone at Ashford Hangers. They also enjoyed exchanging cooking lessons and joining in with 6.1 (lower sixth form) lessons.

Chuansha responded with some wonderful singing, flute playing, and informative presentations on their school and the Dragon Boat festival. Afternoon tea hosted by Bedales Headmaster, Keith Budge, was followed by croquet which was a quintessentially English experience for the visitors from Shanghai.

Chuansha High’s teachers, Shirley and Mrs Xu, were particularly interested to observe lessons and felt students at Bedales were taught self-discipline and learned through doing and experiencing.
