A team of runners from Bedales School will be embarking on the Great South Run Challenge on Sunday to raise funds for the Sam Banks Memorial Pavilion. This new pavilion will provide a new sports facility overlooking the Bedales astroturf and Dunhurst pitches, dedicated to the memory of Old Bedalian Sam Banks, a keen and talented cricketer who died at the age of 20 last year.

The combined parent/ staff/ Old Bedalian team of runners (Rhona Allin, Woppy Keeling, Claire Lock and Jane and Charlie Wetherill) will be tackling the 10 mile challenge to help enable the pavilion project to come to fruition. The school will add 75p for each £1 raised for the first £50,000 donated.

Bedales Head of Sport, Sonia Cartwright will also be running to raise money for Cancer Research UK and Bedales science technician, Lesley Morris will be running in support of the Stem Cell Foundation. In the junior section, seven year old Theo Truss of Dunannie, Bedales pre-prep, will be running 1.5km in support of Cricket for Change, a charity which aims to use cricket to change the lives of disadvantaged young people.
