Sculptor and print maker John Thomson came to talk about his recent exhibition in the Gallery to 6.1 and 6.2 artists. 
He talked about some of the biblical themes underlying his work like Adam and Eve and the crucifixion, as well as the techniques he uses to create the beautiful textures to his metal.
He described the use of special hammers to create the dappled effects, and nitric acid to erode the metal and resist methods to keep specific areas clean.
He also talked about some of his prints, and how it's his love of texture which drives his art.
The skill and high level of craftsmanship is evident in his work, and it was extremely interesting for us to hear from a modern artist who practises it to such a high standard.
