Alex held a series of workshops throughout the day with students from both the senior and prep schools followed by a talk on her Olympic experiences. Students also got the chance to have their hockey sticks signed by Alex and very much enjoyed the experience of training with an Olympian.

Bedales runs a cross-curricular gifted and talented programme, which aims to inspire young minds through workshops and talks with professionals in sport, the arts, academia and industry.

Commenting on Alex’s visit, Jane Grubb, Head of Dunhurst, said: “This was an excellent opportunity for our students to hear from Alex what it takes to be at the top of your game, and to see the rewards in the form of an Olympic Bronze medal. The visit really has inspired some of our young players to train and achieve their personal best.”

Alex Danson said, “I worked with the gifted and talented group of students and they have the qualities that you need as an Olympic athlete in absolute abundance. It’s great to work with a group of students who already have fantastic personal skills.

They work very well together as a team. I put them through their paces and worked them hard, giving them an insight into what it takes to be the best in your field. I am very pleased to say they were absolutely fantastic.”
