A promising fencer from Bedford School recently won the Bedfordshire County Sabre Championship.
Thomas Raut won gold at the tournament, which is open to fencers aged 13 to 100 years. This follows his first place finish in the U15 National Championships in June.
He is a member of the Paul Davis Fencing Academy in St Albans, where he trains for just a few hours a week in between his school studies. He has recently been ranked fifth in the country for his age group, which means he will represent England and fence in their squad this year.
