On Thursday, Year 5 visited Preston Manor in Brighton as part of our History studies. We were dressed as children hoping for a job in the ‘big house’!
When we arrived we were met by Mrs Storey the Housekeeper and Miss Rose the Head Housemaid.
During the morning we learned how to lay the table, clean fireplaces, wash and iron clothes (using Victorian equipment), dust and clean bedrooms and even churn milk and make lemonade.
Victorian servants certainly had to work hard and we were glad to return to 21st century Beechwood!
