Year 10 & 11 students set off for four days in Berlin as part of their GCSE History course. Beechwood School Hitlers Bunker

They enjoyed a tour lead by proficient guides who walked them around the city, where they saw the site of Hitler’s bunker – now a car park!

They went to Bebelplatz which commemorates the burning of books and walked around the memorial stones built to remember the Jews.

The realisation of what happened at Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp was moving, and another chilling memory was the reality of the ‘Final Solution’ deciding the Jews’ fate at the Wansee Villa.

At Checkpoint Charlie they marvelled at the cars that people had used when they tried to escape from East Germany.
