On Monday morning the Year 8 pupils embarked on a long and winding journey across the wilds of Norfolk to the Beeston Hallforest of Thetford for some combat games.

A number of the children had been before. Nevertheless, they were not prepared for the master players – Means, Hammond, Crompton and Thornett.

The first game was a short lived one for Mr Hammond, lucky to survive the first barrage he was shot as he retreated.

Not very chivalrous Mr Hammond, you wouldn’t have done well amongst the French at Crecy!

Unfortunately, the game did not last much longer for Mr Means or myself, I think you could say we were a bit ‘gung ho’ and the red team snipers picked us off with ease, good shooting boys and girls.

Lucas was the star for Team Black Ops and almost won the game. Unfortunately, a head shot took him out just as victory was in his grasp.

In the second game Red Team decimated Black Ops. Patience is a virtue and all that and Black Ops showed none! Oops.

Expert sniping from Everett et al for Red Team was the key. The final game was a Regeneration Game and my goodness was it good fun.

Carnage would be an apt word for this one, lots of superb shooting and a ‘tally ho’ attitude to proceedings from all, not to mention the incendiaries which certainly added to the occasion.

A fantastic morning was had by all and the children were on superb form. Thanks must be extended to Miss Crompton, Mr Hammond and Mr Means for their participation and keen enthusiasm for the trip, it made it a most enjoyable morning!
