The Olympic medallist joined guests at an exclusive Gala Dinner to toast the achievements of The Brain Tom Daley Bethany School charity Mayfair Tumour Charity, of which he is a patron.

The fundraising event, hosted by BBC’s Chris Hollins, paid tribute to those lost to a brain tumour, including Tom’s father, Rob and celebrated the achievements of The Charity over the past 15 years, including breakthroughs in research into brain tumours and national awareness raising of brain tumours in children and young people with The Charity’s HeadSmart: Be Brain Tumour Aware campaign.

Following a champagne reception, guests were treated to a sumptuous three course meal, while host, BBC presenter, Chris Hollins oversaw proceedings. Highlights included a charity auction, music by the High Noons featuring BBC’s The Voice star J Marie and a Question and Answer session with Tom Daley, conducted by Chris Hollins.

Over 8,500 people are diagnosed with a primary brain tumour each year. Brain tumours are the biggest cancer killer of children and adults under 40. The Brain Tumour Charity founders Neil and Angela Dickson started The Charity fifteen years ago after the death of their only daughter, Samantha who died of a brain tumour.

The Gala Dinner was a fitting tribute to their work within the field of brain tumour research and raising awareness.

Tom Daley kindly donated an auction prize (to watch him in training and dinner), as well as answering questions from the guests, including his mum, Debbie, who took part in the London Marathon on behalf of The Charity and continues to be a keen fundraiser for The Brain Tumour Charity.

The event was held at the Cavalry & Guards Club in Mayfair and the intimate setting was ideal for the guests as a number of them were personally affected by a brain tumour.

Auction prizes included two tickets to the US Masters in Georgia, Atlanta, kindly donated by The Brain Tumour Charity patron Sandy Lyle and dinner for ten guests at the Althorpe Estate with Earl Spencer.
