Bromsgrove_school_BFAMEPupils from Bromsgrove School raked in several awards at the annual Birmingham Festival of Acting and Musical Entertainment (BFAME). A record 208 performers from the region took part in the Festival Week.

The Festival took place in front of sell-out crowds, including the Mayor of Solihull. Bromsgrove School was the only school involved in the Festival, with all other entries coming from theatre groups. The high level of competition this brought to the event makes Bromsgrove’s success an even more impressive achievement.

George Toft’s performance in Dr Horrible was a great source of entertainment for the crowd. Todd Cross-Watson received a certificate of merit while Niall Hegarty took home the award for Outstanding Male Performance, awarded for his roles in Northern Lights. Star singer Fran Kingston was awarded the trophy for U19 Individual singing for her performance of ‘On My Own’ from Les Miserables.
Northern Lights, this year’s Year 9 play, was praised to the rafters by judges, leading to a win for Outstanding Achievement in Youth Drama. Staff and judges praised the professionalism, optimism and hard work of all the pupils involved.
