Will Hodge jumped a spectacular 4.94 metres to take the top spot against an outstanding field from across the country, beating his regional qualifying distance of 4.84m.

Further successes came with Charlotte Dadey, who got through to the U14 100m sprint final, and, despite not grabbing a medal place, she qualified as one of the top eight sprinters in the country’s prep schools in her age range. Jake Morris and Amelia Harvey also qualified for the national finals: Jake in the U13 75m hurdles and Amelia in the U14 200m sprint. Both narrowly missed out on final places but had put in a fantastic effort against strong competition.

Bishop’s Stortford College has enjoyed other sporting successes over the past few weeks.

At the National Schools Aquathlon Finals held at Haileybury, the College Prep School scooped gold, two silvers and a bronze. Nine pupils competed in the competition involving 330 pupils from 25 prep schools from around the country doing a swim, transition and run. Will Civil won the Year 9 Boys category, Ellie Mitchell and Emelia Mitchell came second in the Year 7 Girls and Year 5 Girls respectively and Matthew Honeyman landed third place in the Year 7 Boys.under nines elevens tennis bs

In the U11 Hertfordshire Schools Doubles, James Murphy and Thomas Constantinou were unbeaten all day, dropping only three games in five matches, whilst Aidan Murphy and Alex James won all their matches on their way to the final, where they managed to come back from being three match points down to win the match and become county champions in the U9 section.

In this year’s Bishop’s Stortford and District Schools Rounders Championships, Bishop’s Stortford College won three titles for U14A, U13 A and U13B.
