William Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream was performed with a very modern twist by year 8 pupils at Bishop’s Stortford College Junior School.

The menacing Oberon's Posse vied for supremacy of the forest with Titania's Fairies With Attitude, whilst the lovers fell in and out of love under the spell of the mischievous Puck.

The Mechanicals rehearsed a hilarious play and mayhem reigned. The cast of over 60 actors, musicians, singers and dancers performed with maturity and skill and brought the play alive with clarity and verve.

A thoroughly enjoyable night which sparkled with comedy and chaos; a mixture of recorded music, innovative film and live music supported the superb acting. The feedback from parents was highly appreciative…

“What an extraordinary performance last night, we both loved it. Many congratulations to you and your team for producing such a professional and original version. (I have to say it is the first time I have properly understood and enjoyed any of Shakespeare’s works!!) Everything was so good; the set, the costumes, the music, the cast etc etc. I am so pleased that my son was able to be a part of it. Well done!”

“I just wanted to congratulate you on such a superb, sublime show staged last Thursday. I had to repeatedly remind myself that these were children just 12/13 yrs old – they were just so good. I also had to marvel at how you'd interlaced everything and also managed to get the children to learn such difficult passages and deliver them with such gusto. Thank you so much for giving my daughter the opportunity to take part in such a wonderful show, she was in her element and absolutely loved it! I'd also like to thank all the other staff involved with the production. The standard was so high, I just had to write.”
