Bishop’s Stortford College celebrates their best ever GCSE results!

Bishop's Stortford GCSE Results 2015Bishop’s Stortford College students have surpassed all previous GCSE results and this morning are celebrating 70% A*-A. 40% of results achieved A* (up from 34% in 2014). These results are a long way ahead of the reported national average** of 21% A*-A and against the national trend of a reduction in the number of A* grades.

38 pupils will be joining the College’s prestigious ’Ten Club’ and will receive a tie as a reward for 10 or more A*/A grades. The College’s stand-out pupils were Anna Calder and Nicholas Cowles who achieved 11A* and a further 10 pupils achieved a stunning 10A*; Ruman Basra, Ben Brierley, Nicole Buckingham, John Crump, James Gregory, Sam Hopkinson, Caitlin Mahoney, Eleanor McSweeney, Maya Nurbhai and Rebecca Withers. Another 10 pupils achieved 9A* or above.

Three sets of twins enjoy a stellar performance; Lucy and Nicole Buckingham have 19A* and an A between them, Ben and Emily Brierley also have 19A* and an A, and Katherine and WiIliam Watson have 14A* and 6A grades collectively.

Bishop’s Stortford College pupils have once again excelled in subjects across the board but Geography, History, Latin, Music, Religious Studies, Music and Drama have all gained at least 80% A*-A.

Headmaster Jeremy Gladwin said, “It’s been an incredible year. Our Fifth Formers have worked so hard and thoroughly deserve all they have achieved. I am very proud of them. They have been supported by dedicated and skilled teachers to whom I give heartfelt thanks. Congratulations to everyone.”
