Bishop’s Stortford College U11 Hockey Team Crowned County Champions

Bishop’s Stortford College U11 boys’ hockey team crowned county champions.

The Bishop’s Stortford College boys’ U11 hockey team was crowned County Champions last Tuesday, 27 February.

Hosted on home ground at the College, the U11 team took on opponents from Aldwickbury and Heath Mount schools to determine the winner of this year’s Hertfordshire county tournament.

In their first match, up against Aldwickbury School, the College team scored within the first five minutes, followed by a second goal later in the first half to double the lead to 2-0. A further goal just before half time brought the scoreline to 3-0. A fourth and final goal in the second half ended the game in a 4-0 victory to the College.

The team’s second match against Heath Mount School followed suit, with the College maintaining possession and control throughout. An even match between two deserving sides saw a 0-0 draw. The College’s previous win meant the Bishop’s Stortford College U11 team was crowned U11 County Champions.

Assistant Director of Sport, Health, and Fitness, Nick Prowse, commented, “Well done to our U11 boys’ team for this superb achievement. Every team member played fantastic hockey on the day and maintained composure throughout their matches which was reflected in the results. We were delighted to have hosted the tournament, which made this win even better as it was done so on home turf. Congratulations once again to the boys – we look forward to the regional competition.”

The team will now progress to the regional competition later this year.
