Bishop’s Stortford College’s U13 footballers have progressed to the IAPS National Finals after reaching the final of last Friday’s tournament in Essex.

Having lost the first of their group games, the next two matches against St Anthony’s and Lockers Park were crucial to the boy’s progression in the tournament. The team won both games 1-0 with goals from Max L-T and Owen C taking them to the next stage.

In the quarter final, the team were enjoyed a penalty shootout victory after playing out a 0-0 draw against Chigwell. Goalkeeper Freddie H saved two penalties with Yussif K and Owen C converting their penalties to take the team to the semi-finals. The duo scored again in the semi-finals, taking the team to the final where they narrowly lost 2-1 but still qualified for the IAPS National Finals.

David Herd, the team’s coach, commented: “The boys went from strength from strength as the tournament progressed and were very unlucky in the final. They’ll work hard and hope to go one better at the National Finals.”
