Bromsgrove School’s senior, preparatory and pre-preparatory pupils have been celebrating Chinese New Year with a variety of activities.

Children at the pre-prep were taught about the event by senior students, with Year 10 pupils commenting that “the children were very attentive and interested”, adding that it was “an exciting experience” because it was the first time that some pupils had presented to a group of that size.

Reception and pre-school pupils dressed in lucky red, made dragons and enjoyed tasting Chinese food, with senior students teaching them how to use chopsticks.

Julia Boonnak, head of international education, said: “There are educational benefits for all pupils when presenting Chinese New Year: the older pupils learn about public speaking in front of a real audience, while the younger pupils get to learn first-hand the customs and traditions of a different culture.”
