A pupil from Bromsgrove School will take part in the Wadokai Karate World Championships in August.
Freddie Draycott will represent England at the championships in Leicester, the first to be held outside of Japan. He is one of the few athletes selected to compete in both Kata and Kumite and has previously competed at three European Championships, winning three gold and bronze medals and four silver.
He started karate when he was five and trains at his home club in Barnt Green, as well as an additional three times a week in Walsall.
