Bromsgrove Preparatory School recently staged its first production at its brand new Cobham Theatre.

Pupils performed ‘Tales from the Thousand and One Nights’ at the 300-seat venue, putting in impressive performances. The technical team backstage were just as professional and hardworking, supporting the actors in this ambitious and enjoyable piece of theatre.

Charlie Woollhead, head of drama, said: “It was a really joyous experience. We set out to fill this new space with life and stories, a task that we have achieved. They delighted audiences each time they took to the stage, without exception. It is extremely heartening to see young people grasp the challenge of storytelling of this nature and come away successful.”

The school’s new performing arts centre was opened on 22 November 2017 by The Honourable Christopher Lyttelton, 12th Viscount Cobham and Professor Julian Lloyd Webber. As well as Cobham Theatre, the centre includes Routh Concert Hall, a large drama studio, music classrooms, practice rooms and recording studios. It has flexible seating options to accommodate a variety of performance styles, with facilities that will benefit both Bromsgrove pupils and the wider community.
