Bromsgrove School Kid Life for Future LivesBromsgrove School prides itself on being forward thinking whilst at the same time offering pupils a variety of activities and out of class opportunities to challenge themselves to consider how they can improve themselves, their community and the lives of others.  This is done through a programme of lectures and activity sessions and through participation in community service. The School has recently engaged with China Drewitt of Kid Life to present a series of lectures to pupils in the Senior School.  Bromsgrove School’s involvement with the Kid Life workshops sets a new precedent for pastoral care, and looks towards the positive futures of students beyond the classroom.

The *Department for Education have reported that ‘Children with higher levels of emotional, behavioural, social and school well-being on average have higher levels of academic achievement and are more engaged in school, both concurrently and in later years.’

Kid Life is a ground-breaking new scheme that helps young people aged 11-18 learn how to activate their healthy futures and feel good, so they can boost their personal development, productivity and overall happiness, in their daily lives and beyond.

Feedback from pupils shows that an average of 93 out of 100 pupils found their workshop engaging and effective in making them want to improve their health and wellbeing. Pupils’ favourite parts of the experience included The 6 steps to getting healthy, Learning to take care of ourselves and The eye opening facts.

Bromsgrove School’s Head of PSHE, Miss Zia Leech, has her own feedback to share, “As soon as I met China, I knew that she would engage the students with her high energy, and passionate approach to healthy living and mindfulness.  Young people today are so busy and under immense pressure from many different directions, that is essential they realise, and know how to look after body and mind, in order to maximise potential.  China delivered an age appropriate, student friendly and powerful presentation, which kept the audience entertained, with clever use of technology and interactive exercises. The Kid Life six step plan is easy to understand and follow – I recommend without hesitation.”

Kid Life is currently the only programme furthering the ethical interests of every school and parent to participate in a scheme towards children’s healthy personal development and launches nationwide at The Education Show NEC this March.
