Bromsgrove School recorded the finest GCSE results in its history with 31.3% of results at A*, 60.7% at A* and A, and 86.2% at A*-B.

Five local pupils achieved eleven straight A* grades (Evana Fleeming, Sophie Grenfell, Robyn Howcroft, Rebecca Straw and Joshua Jayaratnasingam), with many other pupils dropping only one A* along the way.

Headmaster Chris Edwards said: “It is particularly pleasing that this has been achieved despite the School encouraging pupils to take academically stretching subjects. For example, almost all pupils take the separate sciences where once only a dual science qualification was undertaken whilst 40 pupils took an additional Mathematics qualification to take them beyond GCSE study (four fifths of these pupils gained the top A grade awarded.).

This year was also the first time that that our Fifth Form pupils undertook the Extended Project Qualification which is marked at Upper Sixth standard and we were pleased that most of these were also graded at A* or A. Credit is due to the discipline, drive and flair of staff and pupils.”
