Bromsgrove School pupil Georgina showjumpingTwo Bromsgrove School pupils have showed their impressive equestrian skills by qualifying for the same class at the Longines Royal International Horse Show at Hickstead this July. Henrietta and Georgina Horsley-Gubbins are both keen riders who regularly compete in national-level competitions in a wide variety of disciplines including eventing, dressage and showjumping.

Henrietta (aged 16) and her pony Mr Binks, whose main discipline is Working Hunter Pony classes, have competed in numerous prestigious events this year, including the British Show Pony Society Winter Championships, where they won their class. They qualified for the Longines Royal International Horse Show at Hickstead this coming July following success at the Hereford Marches show on 25th Match in the 143cms Working Hunter Pony Class. They are now starting their campaign to qualify for the Horse of the Year Show at Olympia, an incredibly important event they have competed at before, in a class for which only twenty riders qualify. Henrietta is also working towards the impressive goal of representing the English Team at a championship event in Lincolnshire at the end of August. Henrietta is also starting a qualifying campaign on another pony, Eastlands Beethoven – a feat made all the more impressive by the fact that she is currently taking her GCSEs.

Georgina (aged 14) qualified for the Royal International Horse Show on Sunday 27th May at a competition in Cheshire against the top ponies in the country. Georgina was only one of the two competitors who achieved clear rounds, beating her sister in the process. She will join Henrietta at Hickstead in July, where they will compete against each other in the same class.

The School is very proud of Georgina and Henrietta and continues to support them in their commitment to their riding – we wish them the best of luck for Hickstead.
