As the excited squeals of "IT's SNOWING!" rang out across Bruton School for Girls on Friday 18th January, all Bruton School for Girls in the snow the talk was of nothing but the possible treats in store for the snow day ahead.

Pupils assembled in the hall and the girls went off to enjoy slightly more informal lessons than normal, such as looking at snow under the microscopes in science, and writing poems about the snow in English! A photo competition was keenly entered into.

After an invigorating game of dodgeball everyone went over to the boarding houses to get changed to play in the snow.

The Sixth Form had baked cupcakes which they gave to everyone before we went out and they were greatly appreciated.

First of all everyone laid themselves out in the crisp snow to spell out "Sunny Hill" for an inspired and slightly ironic photo – which was great fun (girls practised in the gym first to avert hypothermia!) and then snowball fights broke out and the boarders built two forts to defend/attack!

James MacDonald, usually our archery coach, from ‘Wild Edge’ came in and gave a lively and informative Bruton School for girls snow presentation on his expedition to Everest Base Camp.

He was asked lots of questions at the end and perhaps some seeds were sown for future travel challenges!

Over the weekend the boarders went tobogganing, made snow sculptures, baked cakes and watched some movies – and did some revision for the Mid-Year tests in between!
