Bruton_girls_school_ski_trip_AustriaPupils received lessons each day of the trip – some learning to ski and some improving their skills. The temperature hit -15°C on the slopes but the fresh snow and well-managed pistes meant the skiing was fantastic.

The trip also provided opportunities to try ice-skating, discover traditional Austrian food and for the linguists to practice their German.

The experienced Sixth Form skiers declared this year’s trip the best ever.

On the return journey the school party was delayed in Munich by two days due to the freezing weather that disrupted flights across Europe. This gave pupils and the staff time to enjoy a traditional German Christmas Market, snowman building competitions and a comfortable hotel. Everyone made it home for Christmas.

Headmaster, John Burrough, said ‘This has been one of the school’s most successful ski trips, despite the enforced stay in Munich due to the poor weather on the return journey. I pay tribute to my colleagues who ensured that the girls enjoyed the entire trip – and whose own families had to make do without them in the busy run-up to Christmas.’
