Meg Rosoff and Jennifer Donnelly, Carnegie award winning authors, visited Bruton School for Girls in October.

Winner of the Carnegie award for her book “Just in Case” in 2007, Meg Rosoff, entertained students from Bruton School for Girls and Sexey’s School with stories of her life and how she came to write.

Meg was a latecomer to writing, publishing her first book at 46, having held a number of different jobs beforehand.

Jennifer Donnelly, who had travelled from the USA to promote her new book, “Revolution”, enlightened the girls on her research methods, focussing particularly on the historical aspect of her novels.

‘A Gathering Light’ won Jennifer the Carnegie Award in 2003. The book is based on the true story of a murder, which took place in 1916.

School Librarian, Mrs Julie Hoskins, said “The girls are very lucky to meet two such famous and inspirational authors and get a chance to talk to them about their work”.
