Pupils at Bruton School for Girls returned from the Taunton Festival of Music and Drama with four first prizes.

The competition took place in Taunton on Friday 16th November and it was a spectacular day for music students at the school.

Sixth Form student, Lucy Stewart, sang the aria, "Deh vieni non tardar" by Mozart from "The Marriage of Figaro". Lucy’s performance was confident and accurate with a strong sense of intuitive musicality. This won Lucy the Linda Marshall Cole Trophy. The judges congratulated her on the body of her voice, clearly identifying the talented young singer Lucy is.

The school’s Soul Band, Junior Choir and Chamber Choir all performed extremely well and also came out top in their respective categories.

The school also entered a number of soloists who put in strong performances.
