The students, who are part of the school’s ‘Roving Reporters’ Journalism club, have been working on the project since October and chose to report on a topic that is important to them; women's rights. The girls related it to the recent Succession to the Crown Bill, which is currently being debated in Parliament.

The students set up a studio at the school with lights, camera, an autocue system and a BBC backdrop. The girls interviewed Lisa Fairbank, an independent film producer, Mrs Ann Aughwane, Headmistress at Burgess Hill School for Girls and Mr Tim Clarke, Head of History at the school.

The students involved were; Nikita, 14, Esme, 13, Harriet, 13, Sophie, 13, Miranda, 13, Amy, 12, Jasmine, 12, Laura, 12 and Felicia, 12.

Mrs Aughwane said, "This has been an amazing project for the girls to work on. They are an enthusiastic group of budding journalists and this experience has really inspired them. Their interest and hard work presented a most professional approach. It has been fantastic to see the BBC News Schools Report in action."

The BBC News School Report took place on Thursday 21st March in schools across the UK.
