Burgess Hill School for Girls students at annual tree planting ceremonyThe Head Girl at Burgess Hill School for Girls took part in the school’s annual tree planting ceremony, which is in its 30th year.

All the senior students at the school gathered outside for the traditional ceremony to say farewell to retiring Head Girl, Georgia King on Wednesday 9th May.

Georgia gave a farewell speech at the ceremony before planting the new tree. She was assisted by all members of her school officer team; Gemma Hampshire and Madeleine Whelan (Deputy Head Girls); Snail Jin (Head of Boarders); Eleanor Cutcliffe (House Co-ordinator); and House Captains, Abigail Watkinson, Samantha Quinn, Emilie Brammer and Jenny Gilmore.

Burgess Hill School is set in fourteen acres of grounds within a conservation area and a tree has been planted each year in the school grounds since 1982 by the retiring by Head Girl.

Headmistress, Ann Aughwane, announced Lower Sixth student, Lily Pedersen, as the new Head Girl for the forthcoming academic year. The following girls will complete the school officer team; Eleanor Armitage and Katy Graham (Deputy Head Girls); Dawn Biza (Head of Boarders); Savanna Raber (Sixth Form Events Co-ordinator); Kitty Cleaver (House Events Co-ordinator) and House Captains, Kayley Rainton (Burns House), Phao Wheatley (Milton), Eleanor Coad (Thomas) and Bethan Williams (Yeats).
