Burgess Hill School for Girls Students Go to the Oscars on School Trip

Students from Burgess Hill School for Girls flew to Los Angeles, USA, for a Hollywood Experience of a lifetime, which Burgess Hillincluded a VIP tour of the Oscars’ venue.

The trip was organised by Head of Drama, Mrs Cassim, for the GCSE and A Level students to learn more about the Media and Film industry.

The girls were given a VIP tour of the Dolby Theatre, the venue for the Oscars. They sat in the auditorium seats reserved for the Best Actor and Actress nominees at the Oscars and were able to walk the winners’ journey onto the stage.

The group stayed for five days in the centre of Studio City and visited film sets at Warner Brothers and Universal Studios. They also took part in professional Media and Marketing workshops in NoHo and toured Hollywood and Beverly Hills, including a visit to the Chinese Theatre and the famous Hollywood sign.

The trip also included time to visit the famous Grove Farmers’ Market and Santa Monica and enjoy the theme park rides at Universal Studios.

Mrs Cassim “The trip was absolutely fantastic. Both students and staff learnt a great deal as well as gaining some memories to treasure forever.”

The School are hoping to repeat the L.A trip again as well as offer a New York ‘Broadway Experience’ trip in 2015.
