Burgess_Hill_Brighton_Marathon_Energy_drinksPupils and staff from Burgess Hill School for Girls handed out thousands of bottles of energy drinks to runners in the Brighton Marathon on Sunday 6th April 2014.

The Burgess Hill School drink station was based at mile 24, along the seafront by the King Alfred Leisure Centre, Hove, just two and a half miles from the finish line.

The team began early in the morning preparing the drinks for the runners, and they worked hard all day handing out bottles and cheering the runners on as they went past.

Headmistress, Ann Aughwane, said “We thoroughly enjoyed being part of this awe inspiring event.  The determination of the runners was amazing to see.”

Three members of staff from the school ran the marathon this year and were given a massive cheer as they passed the Burgess Hill drink station.  Head of Sixth Form, Mr Nick Dyson ran for Breast Cancer Awareness, Technology Technician, Miss Fusae Noda ran for Save the Children and Domestic Staff, Ms Sarah Smart ran for St. Peter & St James Hospice.  We are extremely proud of them and congratulate all who took part.
