Burgess Hill School for Girls drama students have recently completed their GCSE and A Level examination performances. Their examination studies culminated in two wonderfully creative evenings of theatrical performances by 30 students.

GCSE students devised their own pieces based on hard-hitting social and political topics such as Ebola, the school massacre in Pakistan and the shooting of Eric Garner in the USA.

The AS Theatre Studies students performed their own version of J B Priestley’s ‘An Inspector Calls’ influenced by theatre company Shared Experience. The A2 Theatre Studies students performed their own devised piece, called ‘Individually Together’ in the style of Story Telling Theatre, which was inspired by productions such as The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time and Warhorse. The piece was based around the themes of modern society’s inability to communicate with each other.

Mrs Cassim, Head of Drama said “There is still in store from the fantastic Drama Department this term – with trips to see Matilda and Miss Saigon, to the Lower Senior Production of The Witches on 25 & 26 June.”
